My name is Emma Horn and I love the church. It’s a place where I have felt God’s love and forgiveness and have been inspired to share that story with others both in word and in deed.
Pastor Emma was called to serve Lower Brandywine Presbyterian Church spring of 2019. She is a graduate of Mars Hill College with a Bachelor of Arts in Religion and of Union Presbyterian Seminary with her Masters of Divinity. She has worked in churches both as a Christian Educator and as a pastor, having served churches in Washington DC, Arlington, Virginia, and Newark, Delaware.
Her favorite scripture is Micah 6:8. Her theology can best be summed up in one word: Hope. She believes that the church is called to bring a sense of hope to the world, and to embody this hope not just in words, but also in action. This hope is the type that is brought to life by paying attention to the helpers, as Mr. Rogers famously called us to do. A cradle Presbyterian, she also loves the way that hope is put into words in the PCUSA Brief Statement of Faith when it says, “In life and in death, we belong to God. Through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God., and communion of the Holy Spirit, we trust in the one triune God…with believers in every time and place, we rejoice that nothing in life or in death can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Pastor Emma is originally from North Carolina and although her accent has mostly faded, her love of sweet tea, BBQ, and every kind of fried food has not. Emma is a proud cat mom to three fur babies Asher, Daenerys, and Lucky. In her free time, she loves to read, watch Netflix, try out new restaurants and coffee shops, and go to nerdy conventions, especially those focused on Star Trek, Star Wars, Dr. Who, classic Godzilla and monster movies, or Game of Thrones.
