Music Director
Donna Mulzet Beech has been Music Director at Lower Brandywine Presbyterian Church since September 1987, serving as organist, pianist, and choir director. She enjoys collaborating with music directors in other churches to present ecumenical services and concerts, such as the Annual Thanksgiving Ecumenical Service, which she initiated in 2000. She also serves as an organist at St. Joseph on the Brandywine Catholic Church and has been Music Director at Episcopal Church of the Advent (Kennett Square) and Advent Lutheran Church (West Chester).
In 2008 Donna established the Jonathan Beech Memorial Concert, an annual benefit in memory of her older child who lost his battle with a brain tumor in 2007 at the age of fifteen; to date these concerts have raised over $148,000 for organizations that help children and families dealing with pediatric cancer.
Throughout the pandemic year Donna maintained the church music program with the tremendous assistance of her adult child Dee who lives in Philadelphia. Together they produced numerous choral anthems, as well as the 20thAnnual Ecumenical Thanksgiving Service, the 14th Annual Jonathan Beech Memorial Concert, and an Ecumenical Service for Justice and Peace.
Donna received a Doctorate of Musical Arts degree in Piano Performance in 1990 from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., and bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music from West Chester University in West Chester, PA.
Donna resides in Kennett Square with her violinist husband, Martin.
